Class Work
Students had 15 minutes to work in a group and review the article Making Smart Mice. The focus of their review was on vocabulary, content, identifying multiple intelligence, and citing evidence to support the position that an operation to increase intelligence should be legal.
After the review, students were allowed to stay with their group, use their notes, and complete 4 tasks. This was their quiz. The point of the quiz is to encourage students to be thorough with their annotations. Annotations should always include definitions of difficult words, paraphrasing or summarizing of the text, and evidence that supports an argument. Students that spent their time annotating the text correctly for their homework were able to finish this quiz in the time offered. Those who were not as thorough found completing the quiz to be challenging ... in some cases impossible. Students will have the opportunity to review their quiz, make corrections, and improve their score next week.
