In Class
English 9
We started class with a quiz on chapters 22-31. We corrected this quiz in class so students know their score. Also, the reading guides for chapters 22-31 were collected.
We spent the rest of the period reading chapters 32 and 33 as well as adding to the reading guide for those chapters. Students need to finish this reading guide by tomorrow. It will be collected in class. Period 2 had a little less time to complete the reading in class because we had a fire drill. Exciting!
English 10
Class began with students receiving their rhetorical precis grades. Overall, students did well. The majority of improvements need to be made in sentence two of the precis because students did not add enough details to clarify the meaning of the their sentence.
After this quick review, I showed students several examples of the Cultures and Customs presentations that previous students created.
We spent the rest of the period listening to chapter 21 and chapter 22 of Things Fall Apart. Students were given time to work on their journals for these two chapters. Their homework is to read chapter 23 and complete the journal for that chapter. The focus of their journal is to continue looking for evidence of impacts and outcomes of the European influence in Umuofia.
