Period 1 - Class today was all about revising our essays. Students looked for basic information that should be included in the introduction of the essay. Then they reviewed their concrete detail integration and made necessary changes on the hard copy of their essay. Finally, students peer edited one another's essays and focused on highlighting strong statements made by the writer as well as noting areas where it was difficult to comprehend the text. Tomorrow we will be in the lab to make the corrections to our essays.
Period 2 - Our entire class time was devoted to finishing the first draft of the essay. Many students finished before the end of the period and they begin the revision process. Typical first revision included citing the concrete detail correctly and varying the syntax (sentence structure) or the topic sentences to show more insight and skill.

Period 4 - Class was devoted entirely to revising the first draft of the essay. Students were led through a very specific feedback format in order to give constructive criticism rather than judgmental remarks. The process allowed students to see multiple examples of essays so they can better evaluate their own writing.
