Homework
English 9 - Continue memorizing your sonnet. Plan to have the whole sonnet memorized by Thursday
English 10 - Read through chapter 9 in The Catcher in the Rye. Remember you need one passage written down from each chapter. Tomorrow we will have a quiz on chapters 5-9 and expect to write about one of your passages.
Classwork
English 9 - Students began class by filling in a worksheet to help them memorize their sonnet. We then corrected our Act II group quiz from yesterday. Next, students took notes on Romeo and Juliet. We copied down examples that showed Romeo making impulsive decisions because he wanted to be in love. We finished the period by watching Romeo kill Tybalt; an impulsive decision made out of both love and hate.
English 10 - Students started class by working on a vocabulary worksheet. The vocabulary sheet will be collected on Friday, so don't lose it. Students then looked at a glossary of slang terms and idioms that are used in The Catcher in the Rye. We then spent the rest of the period reading independently and finding passages that are of interest. Remember, tomorrow you will turn in one passage from each chapter 5-9. One of those passages needs to relate to a thematic topic.
You took notes on the thematic topics yesterday. Here they are again:
