Homework
Students need to finish reading part 1 in Flowers for Algernon. The short story is in their English textbook. Additionally, students will have a group quiz at our next class meeting. Each student has a specific task to complete in order to help his/her group do well on the quiz.
Class Work
Today we read most of part 1 in Flowers for Algernon. Students worked in groups of 4 to find important/difficult vocabulary, key plot points, evidence of multiple intelligence, and evidence that can be used in support of or against an operation to increase a person's intelligence. The quiz at our next class meeting will require students to provide the definition for the vocab words they chose, outline the plot through part 1 of the story, explain how 5 of the 8 intelligence are shown in the story, and explain how two passages in the story can be used in support of and/or against an operation to increase human intelligence.
