Period 4 English 10 - Read and complete your journal for chapter 24 in The Catcher in the Rye.
English 9:
Both periods began class with a quick write on the topic of marriage. The main topic in Romeo and Juliet is marriage: Romeo and Juliet's marriage is forbidden and Juliet's parents want to arrange a marriage between her and Paris. Students shared some interesting ideas in regard to requirements that should be met for people to be married. Ask your student if he or she remembers some that were shared.
In period 1 we completed Act 3 of the play. Students had time to work on their journals while we watched part of the film.
In period 2 students completed the Act 3 quiz and worked on the Shakesbook assignment. We will correct the quiz in class tomorrow
English 10:
In class we practiced finding the themes in an allegory, a Russian folktale, a Pixar animated short film, and wrapped it up with our novel The Catcher in the Rye. We also revisited chapter 23 to give students the opportunity to search for passages that support the themes they wrote for Catcher. Tomorrow we are going to try to finish the novel!
