English 9 - students began class with a simple quick write that asked them to write two acrostic poems: one for ANTIGONE and one for CREON. We then reviewed the requirements for completing the commentary sections, transition sentence sections, and concluding sentence section on the outline. Students had about 30 minutes left to work on their outline. A ms word file of the outline is below for students who would like to type their work.

Next, we briefly reviewed some of the key passages from the assigned reading. These passages focused on the arrival of the British in the Ibo's land. Most of the examples were focused on the arrival of the missionaries and the challenges/conflicts that created. There was one passage that mentioned the British had built a court house so this shows that there is a new political influence in the region. These examples are meant to highlight the origin of a the Ibo culture's struggle to maintains it's identity in the face of opposition.
We ended class by listening to a reading of chapter 19. This is the last chapter in part 2 of the novel. Homework is to read chapter 20 and complete all dialectical journal entries through chapter 20.
