Students were directed to find two passages to use as evidence for each quadrant on the organizer. In the final quadrant, students were directed to write a minimum of three sentences to describe their own thoughts on Romeo. Here is the result of both classes work. There were many of the same examples used which helps us see that those examples may have more significance.
In Period 1 we completed the dialectical journal for Act 2 scene 1 and then listened to the play. Once finished we had time to watch Luhrmann's adaption of Act 2 scene 1 and about half of Act 2 scene 2.
In Period 2 we completed the dialectical journal for Act 2 scene 2. It was a lot of notes but it is an important scene. Here are the notes for Act 2 scenes 1 and 2.

English 10
Period 4
English 10 began with a Quick Write. Students responded to the following prompt:
In chapter 13, Holden says, “One of my troubles is I don’t care too much when I lose something …. I never seem to have anything that if I lost it I’d care too much” (Salinger 89).
Need help getting started? Address these questions:
· Is Holden lying here?
· What has Holden lost?
· What insight does this give us into Holden’s psychological state?
· What else might Holden lose before this story is over?
Next, students worked in groups of four to complete The Catcher in the Rye Midpoint Chapter Committees Project. The instructions for this assignment are available on the English 10 Assignments page. Groups that did not finish their poster must finish it over the weekend so they are ready to present in class on Monday.
Have a safe weekend!
