Classwork
English 9 - Students began class with a 2 part quick write. Part one asked students to write two lists. The first list is of tangible things they value, like family, friends, food, etc. The second list is of intangible things value, like learning, friendship, respect, etc. Part two of the quick write asked students to decide what would he/she would sacrifice from their lists in order to keep something else from the list. For example, would you sacrifice learning in order to keep your family? Students also needed to thoroughly explain the reason for their response. This quick write relates to Sophocles' play Antigone because Antigone is willing to sacrifice her life to honor her brother.
After students shared their responses to the quick writes, they worked with their table group to answer an assigned question from our Antigone study guide. Students needed to answer the question and provide a concrete detail from Antigone that supported their response. Each table group then presented their answer to the class. Each student was responsible for writing down the answer and the concrete detail of each group that presented.
English 10 - Mrs. Neblon visited our class today to provide some information on registering for classes next year. Visit the counseling website at sd.sduhsd.net to access all the information she shared with you.
We finished class with a quick write and a review of the questions from chapter 2 and 3.
Here is the quick write: What does it mean to be civilized? Provide as many examples as possible.
