Classwork
English 9 - Class begin with this short video on ancient Greek theater. Students wrote down ten facts from the video and created one question from the information. After sharing their responses, students went to the computer lab to research ancient Greece. Click here to see the assignment and the links students used for their research.
English 10 - Class began with students drawing a map of Africa, followed by a map of North America, and then two students showed their confidence by drawing a map of the United States. The idea behind this activity is to discuss whether or not knowledge is proximal. We followed this activity with a brief introduction to the industrial revolution in Europe and how it lead to colonization of Africa. The main points students needs to take away from this activity are the motivations Europeans had to colonize Africa: Economic, Political, Religious, and Ideologic.
Next, students worked with a partner to explore websites on the industrial revolution, imperialism, Nigeria, and Chinua Achebe. Click here to see that assignment and the websites.
