Students began class by exchanging the human rights current event they brought in with a peer. Students read the current event, wrote a brief summary, and identified which articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights applied to the current event. Students submitted their article and their write-up for 10 points.
Next, students were given 20 minutes in class to begin answering the 15 question Human Rights Temperature Reflection and Analysis. The questions on this assignment are challenging and require deep, critical thinking. Please review these questions with your student before class tomorrow.
A new assignment that students are doing is an assignment task sheet. Students write down their assignments as they receive them on a piece of notebook paper. When students receive their work back they write down the grade they received on that assignment. The purpose of this task sheet is to help students keep track of assignments that are turned in for points and to track their grade. Please ask your student to share the task sheet with you.
Students in period 2 were introduced to the Human Rights Creative Project at the end of the period. Period 1 ran out of time so we go over the assignment tomorrow. This is a mini project that will be due on Friday and all students will receive formal directions in class tomorrow.

After a quick review of the responses, students presented their Culture and Customs project. Each student did a very nice job and it is really inspiring to see all the wonderful traditions, values, and talents that are represented by this class. A special thanks to the Gonzalez family for making and sharing their delicious tamales with us!
After the presentations, students received their homework assignment and had a few minutes to begin the reading in class. Students should use the Readers Guide to Annotations located in yesterday's post to help them annotate. Here is a copy of the article:
