In Class:
English 9
Period 1 - In class today students received a stamp for their progress on their outlines. Students then received a review on what to include in the context section, the concrete detail section, and the commentary #1 sections of the outline. Students were then instructed on the expectations of completing the Commentary #2 sections of the outline. We spent the rest of the period working to complete the entire outline.
Period 2 - We spent the period in the computer lab typing the first drafts of the essay. Students will have the opportunity to finish their first draft in the lab on Monday.
English 10
Period 4 - Today, students received their Hold'n it Down, Holden Style stories back. They were fun to read and it seemed like the students enjoyed writing them. If a student scored 18.75 out of 25 points (75%) or less on the essay he/she can revise it and resubmit it for additional credit.
Next, we reviewed the basic information that should be included in the introduction paragraph of the theme essay as well as the expectations of the commentary #2 sections of the essay. We will be in the computer lab again tomorrow and it is expected that students complete their entire first draft by the end of the period.
