English 9 - Students should revise their sonnet and add alliteration. Additionally, students need to read Act 3 scenes 4 and 5. As students read they need to look for passages that show light and dark imagery and characters making decisions out of love or hate. Students should record one example from each scene into their dialectical journal and explain the significance of the passage.

After discussing how the literary device was used in the song we discussed some of the controversial language that is used in the song. The song is titled Alphabet Aerobics and it was created and recorded by a hip hop group called Blackalicious. Here it is:

They reread the first paragraph on page 38 (it extends on to page 39) and identified a passage that supports a thematic topic. Once students understood the thematic topic they had to write a theme statement. Students then wrote a body paragraph that used their theme statement as the topic sentence.
